It forces the player to pay attention to the enemies&#8217; patterns in order to proceed.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-2309\" src=\"http:\/\/astoryisnotatree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/screen1-300x149.png\" alt=\"screen1\" width=\"501\" height=\"249\" srcset=\"https:\/\/r6g.ad7.mwp.accessdomain.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/screen1-300x149.png 300w, https:\/\/r6g.ad7.mwp.accessdomain.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/screen1-624x311.png 624w, https:\/\/r6g.ad7.mwp.accessdomain.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/screen1.png 795w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 501px) 100vw, 501px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Each &#8220;laser beam&#8221; flickers (at a constant rate) between two colors &#8211; green indicates a safe passage and red a sudden death. I programmed the beams to be re-positionable, which gifts them the ability to section off the terrain and force the player into smaller and smaller &#8220;beamless&#8221; territories.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-2305\" src=\"http:\/\/astoryisnotatree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/screen2-300x150.png\" alt=\"screen2\" width=\"512\" height=\"256\" srcset=\"https:\/\/r6g.ad7.mwp.accessdomain.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/screen2-300x150.png 300w, https:\/\/r6g.ad7.mwp.accessdomain.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/screen2-624x312.png 624w, https:\/\/r6g.ad7.mwp.accessdomain.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/screen2.png 798w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The significance of the beam colors becomes immediately apparent once contact is made. On a collision with a red beam, the player is sent back to the start. The major jumps so far have been:<br \/>\n&#8211; Code structure to support beam width and location- Multiple beams<br \/>\n&#8211; Backgrounds that change color with player movement<br \/>\n&#8211; Clean(er) gui that indicates level completion<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m looking to implement the following points:<br \/>\n&#8211; Revise code structure to accommodate for different color patterns\/speeds\/durations<br \/>\n&#8211; Have the beams move around<br \/>\n&#8211; Less rigid player movement (especially on a touch screen)<\/p>\n<p>I have many ideas for this project and hope to continue working on its evolution!<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Dean Russo<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>IonRush (click for .zip) Ion Rush is a game of patience and timing.
